I feel proud to assert that Bengal College of Engineering & Technology for Women, established in 2009, being the first and only Engineering College for women in West Bengal, is sparing no pains to provide quality technical education to women students to empower them with global skill and knowledge in Engineering and Technology. It is our constant endeavor to encourage our women students to follow the foot steps of eminent women personalities like Kalpana Chawla, Sunita Williams, Mother Teresa and many such role models.

Many of us used to think that engineering is not the right profession for women. This idea has been proved to be wrong by the immense success of women engineers from the IT industry to factory shop floor.

As many of our engineering colleges do not have conducive academic environment today, a women’s engineering college opens up new opportunities for women students.

Globally there is a huge requirement of skilled engineers. Hence there is a great future for skilled women engineers globally. Bengal College of Engineering & Technology for Women, having a well secured campus is already showing good sign of a bright prospect as evident through huge participation and excellent performance of our students in all academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of the college.

Women's Empowerment is an economic and social imperative. We have set up a Women Empowerment cell to address an additional question: how to prepare women for life itself ? We seek to prepare women best for not only economic independence and prosperity, but also to face life’s challenges with confidence and happiness. In this connection, we are regularly organizing events like youth empowerment and skill workshops to equip our students to excel both academically and professionally.

We celebrate International Women’s Day every year to commemorate the story of ordinary women as makers of history, who struggled for ages to have an equal footing with men. On this occasion, we felicitate distinguished personalities from the field of academics, research, industries, art and culture, medicine, etc. Our faculties and young budding students also show their extraordinary talents through various events.

Women can lead everywhere you look--from the CEO who runs a Fortune 500 company to the housewife who raises her children and heads her household. Our country was built by strong women and I believe they will continue to break down walls and defy stereotypes.
